The school takes its name from Al-Faqeehul Haafiz Mohamed Jamaaluddinul Mah’lee, a renowned scholar whose legacy in education dates back to 1573 (981 H.). Jamaaluddin, also known as Vaadhoo Dhannakaleygefaanu, began his teaching at the old Masjid in Vaadhoo, marking the beginning of an enduring educational tradition. This rich legacy continued through the generations, and on March 8, 2016, the Ministry of Education officially renamed the school to Vaadhoo Jamaaluddin School to honor its historical and cultural significance.
