introduction
THAEC was the the third atoll education centre opened in the Maldives. The centre was opened in 4th Februrary 1980 by the Minister of Education at the time, Dr. Mohamed Zaahir Hussain. THAEC was built by the Maldivian government in collaboration with UNICEF and with the help of Thimarafushi citizens. In 1984, the centres name was changed from Thaa Community School to ""Thaa Atoll Education Centre"". After the school was opened in 1980, only primary education was being given, however from 1992 onwards, THAEC has transitioned secondary education. In the 2024 academic year we have a total of 275 students, and we teach Science, Business and BTECH stream.
