This school is named in honor of Ali Rasgefaanu also known as Sultan Ali (VI) Siri audha siaaka kahthiri mahaaradhun. Ali Rasgefaanu is remembered as a brave and valiant national hero who sacrificed his life while resisting Portuguese aggression in defense of the Maldivian nation, the Islamic faith of its people, and their freedom. Ali Rasgefaanu was martyred on May 19, 1558 AD.
