Clinical information

Common uses

vitamin A deficiency when oral dosing is not possible
malabsorption syndrome with steatorrhoea
important therapy for deficiency in children

Cautions

never given intravenously — anaphylaxis and death reported
avoid overdosage (hypervitaminosis A)
polysorbates linked to serious reactions in low-birthweight infants

Pregnancy: doses above the recommended allowance can harm the baby
