Vericiguat

A heart failure tablet that reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalisation.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction after recent hospitalisation

Common side effects

  • low blood pressure
  • anaemia

Cautions

  • must not be taken in pregnancy — pregnancy test before starting
  • effective contraception needed during and one month after treatment

Interactions

  • other soluble guanylate cyclase stimulators — must not be combined
  • PDE-5 inhibitors (e.g. sildenafil) — not recommended

Pregnancy: avoid — contraindicated; may cause fetal harm
