Clinical information

Common uses

  • BRAF V600E-mutated melanoma that has spread or is inoperable
  • Erdheim-Chester disease with BRAF V600 mutation

Common side effects

  • joint pain
  • rash
  • hair loss
  • tiredness
  • sensitivity to sunlight

Cautions

  • new skin cancers can develop — regular skin checks
  • severe skin and allergic reactions can occur
  • heart rhythm and liver tests monitored during treatment
  • avoid sun exposure

Interactions

  • strong CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers — avoid
  • CYP1A2-metabolised medicines — levels may rise; avoid narrow-margin drugs

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm an unborn baby; use effective contraception
