Cautions

can injure or kill an unborn baby — stop if pregnant
can cause low blood pressure, especially if dehydrated
kidney function and potassium monitored in susceptible people
can trigger acute glaucoma or lupus flare

Interactions

lithium — toxicity risk; levels monitored
NSAID painkillers — kidney risk, weaker effect
potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics — high potassium
aliskiren — do not combine if diabetic
diabetes medicines — dose may need adjusting
cholestyramine or colestipol — less absorbed

Pregnancy: avoid — can seriously harm the baby; stop if pregnant
