Trifluridine

Antiviral eye drops for herpes infection of the cornea.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • primary keratoconjunctivitis from herpes simplex virus
  • recurrent epithelial keratitis (corneal ulcers)
  • cases not responding to idoxuridine or vidarabine

Cautions

  • only for a confirmed diagnosis of herpetic keratitis
  • do not exceed recommended dose or frequency
  • not effective against bacterial, fungal or chlamydial infections
