Cautions

use contraception — it can seriously harm a developing baby
may not suit people with kidney, liver or eye problems
do not stop suddenly — dose reduced gradually
best not to drink alcohol — more side effects, seizure risk

hormonal contraceptives, such as the combined pill
other epilepsy medicines
alcohol

Pregnancy: avoid — linked to birth defects; doctor will usually switch medicines
