Common uses

testosterone replacement in men with hypogonadism

Common side effects

raised PSA
headache
runny nose
nosebleeds
nasal discomfort

Cautions

never for women who are or may become pregnant
blood clot risk (deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism)
can raise blood pressure
prostate (PSA), blood counts and lipids monitored

Interactions

insulin and diabetes medicines (may lower blood sugar)
warfarin (blood thinner) — closer monitoring needed
corticosteroids (more fluid retention)

Pregnancy: never in pregnancy — causes fetal harm
