Terbutaline

A bronchodilator tablet that prevents and reverses airway narrowing in asthma and bronchitis.

Clinical information

Common uses

asthma (age 12+)
reversible bronchospasm with bronchitis or emphysema

Common side effects

nervousness
tremor
headache
drowsiness
palpitations

Cautions

boxed warning: must not be used to delay preterm labour
needing more doses than usual signals worsening asthma
caution with heart problems and high blood pressure
rare reports of seizures

Pregnancy: never for delaying labour — serious harm reported in pregnant women
