Tamsulosin + Dutasteride

A combination capsule of dutasteride and tamsulosin for enlarged prostate symptoms in men.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate) in men

Common side effects

  • ejaculation problems
  • impotence
  • decreased sex drive
  • dizziness
  • breast disorders

Cautions

  • can cause dizziness or fainting on standing
  • pregnant women should not handle the capsules
  • may increase risk of high-grade prostate cancer
  • tell your eye surgeon before cataract or glaucoma surgery

Interactions

  • ketoconazole and other strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (do not combine)
  • other alpha blockers (do not combine — low blood pressure)
  • erectile dysfunction medicines (PDE-5 inhibitors) — hypotension risk
  • warfarin (blood thinner) — caution
  • cimetidine (stomach medicine) — caution
  • paroxetine, erythromycin (raise tamsulosin levels)

Pregnancy: not for women — contraindicated in pregnancy
