Common uses

migraine attacks
cluster headaches (nasal spray or injection)

Common side effects

feeling or being sick
feeling dizzy, unsteady or tired
feeling hot or cold, flushed face
nose or throat irritation from the nasal spray
bruising or swelling at the injection site

Cautions

not suitable after heart attack, angina or stroke
not with uncontrolled high blood pressure
serotonin syndrome risk with some antidepressants
do not exceed the 24-hour dose limits

Interactions

ergotamine and other triptans — do not combine
SSRI and MAOI antidepressants — serotonin syndrome risk
St John's wort — do not take

Pregnancy: not thought harmful, but evidence limited — talk to your doctor
