Sorafenib

A targeted cancer tablet (kinase inhibitor) used for liver and thyroid cancers.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer)
  • differentiated thyroid carcinoma

Common side effects

  • diarrhoea
  • tiredness
  • hair loss
  • hand-foot skin reaction and rash
  • weight loss and reduced appetite

Cautions

  • bleeding and high blood pressure can occur
  • severe skin reactions, rarely Stevens-Johnson syndrome
  • can affect the heart and QT interval
  • can harm an unborn baby

Pregnancy: avoid — may harm the baby
