Sofosbuvir + Velpatasvir

A combination antiviral tablet for chronic hepatitis C of any genotype.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • chronic hepatitis C, genotypes 1 to 6
  • with ribavirin in decompensated cirrhosis

Common side effects

  • headache
  • tiredness
  • with ribavirin: anaemia, feeling sick, insomnia, diarrhoea

Cautions

  • boxed warning: hepatitis B can reactivate — test before starting
  • serious slow heartbeat when taken with amiodarone

Interactions

  • amiodarone (heart rhythm drug) — not recommended
  • St John's wort — not recommended
  • rifampin and similar strong inducers — not recommended
  • carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital (seizure medicines)
  • acid-reducing medicines (antacids, omeprazole-type drugs)
  • rosuvastatin and digoxin — levels can rise

Pregnancy: with ribavirin: do not use; alone: no adequate human data
