Common uses

chronic hepatitis C, as part of a combination regimen

Common side effects

tiredness
headache
with interferon combinations: nausea, insomnia, anaemia

Cautions

hepatitis B can reactivate — test before starting (boxed warning)
always used with other antivirals, never alone

Interactions

amiodarone (dangerously slow heartbeat)
rifampin
St John's wort (may lower sofosbuvir levels)

Pregnancy: avoid when the regimen includes ribavirin — ask your doctor
