Selexipag

A tablet for pulmonary arterial hypertension that delays disease progression.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • pulmonary arterial hypertension (adults and children 2 and older)

Common side effects

  • headache
  • diarrhoea
  • jaw pain
  • feeling sick or vomiting
  • muscle or limb pain and flushing

Cautions

  • stop if pulmonary oedema from veno-occlusive disease is confirmed
  • avoid in severe liver impairment

Interactions

  • gemfibrozil (strong CYP2C8 inhibitor) — contraindicated
  • clopidogrel and other moderate CYP2C8 inhibitors — reduce to once daily
  • rifampin — dose may need doubling
