Ribociclib

A targeted cancer medicine (kinase inhibitor) given with letrozole for breast cancer.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • HR-positive, HER2-negative early breast cancer at high recurrence risk
  • advanced or metastatic breast cancer (with letrozole)

Common side effects

  • low blood cell counts
  • infections
  • feeling sick
  • tiredness
  • headache

Cautions

  • can cause serious lung inflammation
  • can cause severe skin reactions
  • can affect heart rhythm — ECG monitoring needed
  • regular liver and blood tests needed

Interactions

  • strong CYP3A inhibitors — avoid
  • strong CYP3A inducers — avoid
  • QT-prolonging drugs, e.g. anti-arrhythmics — avoid

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm an unborn baby; use effective contraception
