A targeted cancer medicine (kinase inhibitor) given with letrozole for breast cancer.

Clinical information

Common uses

HR-positive, HER2-negative early breast cancer at high recurrence risk
advanced or metastatic breast cancer (with letrozole)

Common side effects

low blood cell counts
infections
feeling sick
tiredness
headache

Cautions

can cause serious lung inflammation
can cause severe skin reactions
can affect heart rhythm — ECG monitoring needed
regular liver and blood tests needed

Interactions

strong CYP3A inhibitors — avoid
strong CYP3A inducers — avoid
QT-prolonging drugs, e.g. anti-arrhythmics — avoid

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm an unborn baby; use effective contraception
