Clinical information

Common uses

numbing the eye to remove foreign bodies or stitches
eye pressure tests (tonometry)
short corneal and conjunctival procedures

Common side effects

temporary stinging and burning
eye redness

Cautions

for topical eye use only — never inject
a rare severe corneal reaction has been reported
discard the solution if it turns darker
