Clinical information

Common uses

bacterial infections of the outer ear canal
infections of mastoid surgery cavities

Common side effects

allergic skin sensitisation (redness, itching, rash)
rare stinging and burning

Cautions

neomycin can cause permanent hearing loss — limit use to 10 days
do not use with a perforated eardrum
not for herpes, chickenpox or vaccinia infections
stop promptly if irritation or sensitisation occurs
