Common uses

spider veins (up to 1 mm)
reticular veins (1 to 3 mm) in the legs

Common side effects

mild reactions at the injection site

Cautions

not for people with polidocanol allergy or acute blood clot disease
anaphylaxis can occur — treatment must be at hand
must never be injected into an artery — tissue damage risk

Pregnancy: usually deferred — little benefit during pregnancy; veins often regress after birth
