Pneumococcal Conjugate

A vaccine that protects against pneumococcal disease, pneumonia and ear infections.

Clinical information

Common uses

prevention of invasive pneumococcal disease (from 6 weeks of age)
prevention of pneumococcal pneumonia in adults
prevention of pneumococcal ear infections in young children

Common side effects

pain, redness or swelling where injected
irritability in infants
drowsiness or fatigue
muscle pain and headache
fever

Cautions

do not give after severe allergic reaction to its components or diphtheria toxoid
apnoea has occurred in some premature infants after vaccination
