Common uses

high blood pressure and sweating episodes in phaeochromocytoma

Common side effects

dizziness on standing (low blood pressure)
fast heartbeat
stuffy nose
drowsiness and tiredness
stomach irritation

Cautions

not for conditions where a blood pressure fall would be risky
adrenaline-like drugs can cause an exaggerated pressure drop

Interactions

drugs stimulating both adrenergic receptor types (exaggerated low blood pressure)

Pregnancy: only if clearly needed
