Clinical information

Common uses

HER2-positive early breast cancer (before or after surgery)
HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer (with docetaxel)

Common side effects

diarrhoea
hair loss
low white blood cells
feeling sick
tiredness

Cautions

boxed warning: can weaken the heart — heart checks before and during treatment
boxed warning: can harm an unborn baby — contraception needed
boxed warning: serious lung toxicity possible
severe allergic and administration reactions can occur

Interactions

anthracycline chemotherapy (avoid for up to 7 months after — heart risk)

Pregnancy: avoid — can cause fetal death and birth defects
