Clinical information

Common uses

exocrine pancreatic insufficiency in adults and children

Common side effects

vomiting
dizziness or cough
abdominal pain, wind, frequent stools
blood sugar changes

Cautions

very high doses linked to bowel scarring (fibrosing colonopathy)
can irritate the mouth if capsules are crushed or chewed
made from pig tissue — allergy and theoretical virus risk
uric acid may rise with high doses

Pregnancy: minimal absorption — no risk identified
