Palonosetron is an anti-sickness injection to prevent nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy or surgery.

Common uses

  • nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy
  • post-operative nausea and vomiting

Common side effects

  • headache
  • constipation

Cautions

  • allergic reactions including anaphylaxis reported
  • serotonin syndrome possible with serotonergic medicines

Interactions

  • serotonergic drugs (e.g. some antidepressants) — serotonin syndrome risk

Pregnancy: no human data — animal studies show no harm
