Ofloxacin

Ofloxacin is an antibiotic eye drop for bacterial conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • bacterial conjunctivitis
  • corneal ulcers

Common side effects

  • brief burning or discomfort in the eye
  • stinging
  • redness
  • itching
  • blurred vision

Cautions

  • not for injection into the eye
  • rare severe allergic reactions to quinolones
  • stop the drops if an allergic reaction occurs

Interactions

  • theophylline (with quinolones taken by mouth)
  • warfarin (blood thinner)
  • ciclosporin
