Nivolumab

Nivolumab is an immunotherapy antibody used to treat many advanced cancers.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • kidney, lung, and head and neck cancers
  • melanoma (skin cancer)
  • bladder, bowel, liver, stomach and oesophageal cancers

Common side effects

  • tiredness
  • muscle and joint pain
  • rash
  • itching
  • diarrhoea

Cautions

  • immune attacks on organs can be severe or fatal
  • regular liver, kidney and thyroid blood tests needed
  • can harm an unborn baby — use effective contraception
  • do not breastfeed during and 5 months after treatment

Pregnancy: can harm an unborn baby — avoid
