Nicorandil is a prescription tablet that treats and prevents chest pain caused by angina.

Common uses

treating angina chest pain
preventing angina attacks

Common side effects

headaches
feeling sick or being sick
flushing
dizziness and weakness

Cautions

may not suit people with low blood pressure or kidney problems
can cause ulcers of the skin, stomach or eyes
do not use salt substitutes — potassium can rise too high
do not drive if dizzy or weak

Interactions

blood pressure medicines
erection medicines such as sildenafil (Viagra)
antidepressants such as amitriptyline
NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or aspirin
steroid tablets and potassium supplements
alcohol — increases dizziness
