Clinical information

Common uses

reversing non-depolarising muscle relaxants after surgery

Common side effects

slow heart rate
nausea and vomiting

Cautions

atropine or glycopyrrolate given first to prevent slow heart rate
caution with heart disease, arrhythmias or myasthenia gravis
not with bowel or urinary blockage, or peritonitis

Interactions

caution with drugs that alter liver metabolising enzymes

Pregnancy: only if clearly needed — may trigger premature labour near term
