Mitomycin

A chemotherapy medicine used with other drugs for stomach and pancreatic cancer.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • stomach or pancreas cancer, in combination chemotherapy
  • palliative treatment when other options have failed

Cautions

  • strongly suppresses bone marrow — blood counts checked during and 8 weeks after
  • not with low platelets, clotting disorders or bleeding tendency
  • kidney function must be monitored

Pregnancy: avoid — safety not established, harm seen in animal studies
