Mirabegron

A medicine that relaxes the bladder muscles to ease symptoms of an overactive bladder.

Clinical information

Common uses

sudden urgent need to pee
needing to pee more often
urge incontinence

Common side effects

urinary tract infections
fast heartbeat
feeling sick
constipation or diarrhoea
headache

Cautions

tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure
lower dose may be needed with liver or kidney problems
not suitable if you cannot empty your bladder
not suitable with long QT syndrome

Interactions

digoxin (heart medicine)
imipramine (antidepressant)
dabigatran (blood thinner)
clarithromycin (antibiotic)
ketoconazole or itraconazole (antifungals)
HIV medicines such as ritonavir

Pregnancy: not usually recommended in pregnancy
