Common uses

HRT alongside oestrogen (protects the womb lining)

Common side effects

changes in periods or spotting
headaches
breast pain or tenderness
feeling tired or dizzy

Cautions

not needed after a hysterectomy
not with breast cancer history or unexplained vaginal bleeding
caution with a history of blood clots
capsules unsuitable if allergic to soya or peanut

Interactions

epilepsy medicines (phenytoin, carbamazepine)
rifampicin (tuberculosis antibiotic)
ritonavir (HIV medicine)
ketoconazole or terbinafine (antifungals)
warfarin (blood thinner)
diabetes medicines
