The live combined measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine for people 12 months and older.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • prevention of measles, mumps and rubella

Common side effects

  • injection-site pain, redness or swelling
  • fever
  • measles-like or rubella-like rash

Cautions

  • not for people with weakened immune systems
  • not during moderate or severe febrile illness or untreated TB
  • caution after egg anaphylaxis or febrile seizures
  • caution with a history of low platelets (thrombocytopenia)

Interactions

  • immune globulins and blood products — do not give together
  • can temporarily blunt tuberculin (TB) skin tests

Pregnancy: do not give — avoid pregnancy for 1 month after
