Linagliptin is a once-daily tablet for type 2 diabetes that helps the body make more insulin.

Common side effects

cold-like symptoms such as a blocked nose
cough
constipation

Cautions

can cause pancreatitis — get help for severe stomach pain
low blood sugar possible when combined with other diabetes medicines
may not suit people who have had pancreatitis

Interactions

carbamazepine (epilepsy medicine)
rifampicin (antibiotic)
insulin, metformin or gliclazide (doses may need changing)
alcohol (affects blood sugar; best avoided)
