Clinical information

Common uses

  • local anaesthesia for dental procedures

Cautions

  • given only by trained practitioners with emergency equipment ready
  • caution in severe shock, heart block or heart disease
  • too much can cause drowsiness, seizures or heart problems

Interactions

  • MAOI antidepressants
  • tricyclic antidepressants
  • phenothiazines (antipsychotics)
  • ergot-type oxytocic drugs
