Clinical information

Common uses

  • reducing pregnancy chance within 72 hours of unprotected sex

Common side effects

  • menstrual changes
  • nausea
  • lower stomach pain
  • tiredness
  • headache

Cautions

  • not for regular birth control
  • the sooner taken, the better it works
  • if you vomit within 2 hours, ask about repeating the dose

Interactions

  • efavirenz (HIV medicine)
  • rifampin (tuberculosis medicine)
  • epilepsy (seizure) medicines

Pregnancy: do not use if already pregnant — it will not work
