Ledipasvir + Sofosbuvir

Ledipasvir with sofosbuvir (Harvoni) is a combination tablet that treats chronic hepatitis C.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • chronic hepatitis C (genotypes 1, 4, 5 or 6)
  • advanced cirrhosis or post-liver-transplant hepatitis C (with ribavirin)

Common side effects

  • tiredness
  • headache
  • weakness

Cautions

  • hepatitis B can reactivate — get tested before starting
  • dangerous slow heartbeat if taken with amiodarone
  • if combined with ribavirin, ribavirin's restrictions apply

Interactions

  • amiodarone (serious slow heartbeat; avoid)
  • rifampicin (avoid)
  • St John's wort (avoid)
  • carbamazepine, phenytoin or phenobarbital (reduce its effect)
  • antacids and acid-reducing medicines (separate doses; limit strength)
  • rosuvastatin (avoid — muscle damage risk)

Pregnancy: no human data; must avoid if combined with ribavirin
