Latanoprost

Latanoprost eye drops lower high pressure inside the eye and help treat glaucoma.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • high pressure inside the eye
  • glaucoma

Common side effects

  • permanent change in eye colour
  • longer, thicker eyelashes
  • sensitivity to light
  • red, itchy or irritated eyes
  • eye pain

Cautions

  • eye colour change can be permanent
  • remove contact lenses; wait 15 minutes to re-insert
  • tell your doctor about eye surgery, herpes eye infection or severe asthma
  • do not stop without advice — eye pressure can rise again

Interactions

  • other prostaglandin eye drops (tafluprost, travoprost, bimatoprost) — combining can raise eye pressure
  • other eye drops (wait at least 5 minutes between)

Pregnancy: can be used in pregnancy
