Clinical information

Common uses

  • intestinal strongyloidiasis
  • onchocerciasis (river blindness)

Common side effects

  • dizziness
  • itching
  • nausea
  • diarrhoea
  • tiredness

Cautions

  • river blindness treatment can trigger Mazzotti reactions (rash, fever)
  • rare serious drowsiness, confusion or coma reported

Interactions

  • warfarin (blood thinner) — INR rises reported

Pregnancy: avoid — harm seen in animal studies
