Ibuprofen

A painkiller (NSAID) that relieves pain, reduces inflammation and lowers fever.

Clinical information

Common uses

headaches and migraines
joint and muscle pain
period pain and toothache
reducing a high temperature (fever)

Common side effects

indigestion and stomach aches
feeling or being sick
headaches
rash
dizziness

Cautions

not suitable after stomach ulcers or NSAID allergy
caution with asthma, heart, liver or kidney problems
use the smallest dose for the shortest time
no more than 10 days without a doctor's advice

Interactions

anticoagulants such as warfarin
steroid medicines
antidepressants
blood pressure medicines
other NSAIDs like aspirin or naproxen (do not combine)
alcohol (avoid drinking a lot)

Pregnancy: avoid in pregnancy unless a doctor advises
