Clinical information

Common uses

  • moderate to severe melasma of the face, short-term, with sun avoidance

Common side effects

  • skin redness
  • peeling
  • burning
  • dryness
  • itching

Cautions

  • contains tretinoin, which can harm an unborn baby
  • contains a sulfite that can cause serious allergic reactions
  • hydroquinone can cause blue-black skin darkening (ochronosis) — stop if seen
  • use sunscreen and avoid sun exposure

Pregnancy: avoid — contains tretinoin; only if benefit justifies the risk
