Clinical information

Common uses

bacterial infections of the outer ear canal
infections of mastoid surgery cavities

Common side effects

allergic skin sensitisation
burning or stinging
itching
irritation
dry skin

Cautions

neomycin can cause permanent hearing loss — limit use to 10 days
not for use with a perforated eardrum
stop promptly if irritation or sensitisation occurs
not for herpes, vaccinia or chickenpox infections
