Clinical information

Common uses

reducing infection during myelosuppressive chemotherapy
speeding white-cell recovery in acute myeloid leukaemia
bone marrow transplant support and stem-cell mobilisation
severe chronic neutropenia; acute radiation exposure

Common side effects

fever
pain (bone or general)
rash
cough and breathlessness
nosebleed

Cautions

spleen can enlarge and rarely rupture — report left-upper-abdominal pain
serious lung reaction (ARDS) possible
can trigger sickle cell crisis
platelets monitored

Pregnancy: no established link with birth defects in studies
