Common uses

low blood volume (hypovolaemia)
low blood albumin
cardiopulmonary bypass procedures
plasma exchange

Common side effects

anaphylactoid-type allergic reactions

Cautions

not for severe anaemia or heart failure with normal blood volume
fluid overload possible — dose and rate must match your condition
made from human blood — extremely remote risk of infection

Interactions

must not be mixed with other medicines

Pregnancy: only if clearly needed
