Common uses

first-line metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with EGFR exon 19 or 21 mutations

Common side effects

skin reactions such as rash
diarrhoea

Cautions

can cause serious lung inflammation — report worsening breathing
liver damage — regular liver tests needed
eye problems including keratitis
can harm an unborn baby

Interactions

strong CYP3A4 inducers (gefitinib dose increased)
CYP3A4 inhibitors (watch for side effects)
proton pump inhibitors (avoid if possible)
warfarin (bleeding risk — monitor INR)

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm the unborn baby
