Fusidic Acid

An antibiotic cream, ointment and eye drops for bacterial skin and eye infections.

Clinical information

Common uses

skin infections including impetigo
eye infections including conjunctivitis

Common side effects

eye drops: burning, stinging, itching or dry eyes
eye drops: short-lived blurred vision
cream or ointment: mild skin irritation

Cautions

finish the full course to stop the infection returning
do not drive with blurred vision after eye drops
cream dried onto fabric is a fire risk — avoid flames
no contact lenses until 24 hours after finishing eye drops

Pregnancy: safe to use in pregnancy
