Clinical information

Common uses

inducing ovulation in anovulatory infertility
controlled ovarian stimulation for IVF or ICSI
inducing sperm production in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism

Common side effects

ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome
ovarian cysts
abdominal or pelvic discomfort and pain
headache and nausea
injection-site reactions (men)

Cautions

only for specialists experienced in infertility treatment
can cause serious ovarian hyperstimulation with clot complications
multiple pregnancy risk
not used in pregnancy or with certain hormone-sensitive tumours

Pregnancy: contraindicated during pregnancy
