Steroid eye drops for inflammation of the eye surface.

Clinical information

Common uses

steroid-responsive inflammation of the conjunctiva and cornea
inflammation of the front of the eye

Common side effects

raised eye pressure
transient burning or stinging on use
eye irritation, redness or discharge

Cautions

prolonged use can cause glaucoma and cataract
can mask or worsen eye infections, including herpes
eye pressure monitored if used 10 days or longer
not for most viral, fungal or mycobacterial eye infections

Pregnancy: only if benefit justifies risk
