Clinical information

Common uses

iron deficiency anaemia when oral iron fails or is not tolerated
iron deficiency anaemia in non-dialysis chronic kidney disease
iron deficiency in heart failure to improve exercise capacity

Common side effects

nausea
high blood pressure
flushing
injection site reactions
dizziness

Cautions

allergic reactions — observed for 30 minutes after each dose
can lower blood phosphate levels
blood pressure can rise after dosing

Pregnancy: caution — severe reactions can slow the baby's heart
